Our services
Themis Justice works across civil, family, administrative, and criminal law jurisdictions to achieve justice for victim survivors of domestic and family violence.
Civil damages
Suing perpetrators for damages for:
- domestic violence
- sexual assault
- child abuse
- wrongful imprisonment
- fraud and identity theft
- property damage and theft
- breach of privacy and defamation
- other civil wrongs.
Family law
- Property settlements where domestic violence is a factor
- Spousal maintenance
- Parenting matters involving significant domestic violence or child abuse.
Fees
We charge $550/hour for all matters.
Civil damages claims: We will provide you with a full cost estimate for your matter – and usually you will need to make a $5,000 deposit for us to commence the action. We do not act on matters where your legal costs are likely to exceed or be disproportionate to your likely damages payment.
Family law matter: We will provide you with a full costs estimate for your matter – and will need you to make a $10,000 deposit for us to commence proceedings.
About us
Themis Justice was established by Dr Anni Gethin in 2025. Anni is also founder and principal solicitor of Brigid Justice – a charity and lower cost family law firm for women victim survivors of domestic violence.
It was intended that Brigid Justice run civil damages actions against perpetrators but we found that clients were rarely of a mind set to sue their perpetrator while also engaged in family law proceedings – particularly when parenting was involved.
However, it was clear to us that there is a desperate need for a victims’ rights law firm that will act against individual perpetrators. Victims of domestic violence and most other forms of non-institutional abuse in Australia get no compensatory justice apart from small victims’ services payments. Perpetrators are almost never held financially accountable for the damage they cause. Victims also face threats to their legal rights in obtaining fair property settlements, being criminally charged/misidentified as the perpetrator, and breach of privacy.
Themis Justice specialises in victims’ compensatory and legal rights. We are a social enterprise with all profits going to Brigid Justice and other victim support services.
Anni and the solicitors and barristers who work with Themis Justice are experienced litigators with a deep understanding of the intersections between domestic and family violence and the justice system.
